Complaints against Councillors

Complaints speech bubble with a cross mark in the bubble

You can make a complaint about a councillor if you feel that they have failed to abide by the council's Code of conduct.  Please read this document before completing the Standards Complaint form.

Complaints against councillors are considered initially by the council's Monitoring Officer in consultation with an appointed Independent Person. The arrangements for Dealing with Complaints about the Code of Conduct for Members (PDF) [170KB] , sets out how you may make a complaint.

If the Monitoring Officer and Independent Person decided to send a complaint forward for investigation then it would go to a hearings panel who would follow the Local hearings procedure.
