The Finance department is responsible for overseeing the technical and financial accounting arrangements for the council including monitoring the council's collection of income such as:

  • council tax
  • managing the council's investment activities
  • ensuring the council's accounts are properly closed and the preparation of the statutory Statement of Accounts and Annual Reports
  • lobbying the government on the way it works out the money it gives to the council for services
