We have to charge a license fee to cover the cost of administering the Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) licensing scheme. To keep your costs to a minimum you should provide all the necessary information set out in the how to apply for a HMO licence page.
From the 1 October 2018, Mandatory HMO license fee costs will be set at the following rates:
Standard rate for a five year licence; £500 (payable in 2 parts):
Discount of £100 for membership of accredited landlord bodies, for example National Landlords Association, (which is deducted from the balance of a license fee, due on the issue of the HMO License).
Discount of £100 for additional properties, if you are applying for more than 5 separate licenses, (which is deducted from the balance of license fee, due on the issue of HMO License).
Additional Fee rate of £100 is payable following unreasonable failure to apply by the appropriate date; (which will to be added to the full licence fee), therefore £600 in total.
Additional Fee rate of £100 is payable following failure to submit a complete application; (to be added to the full licence fee), therefore £600 in total.
