Review of polling districts and polling places

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England have undertaken a review of the electoral arrangements for Preston.

The review examined:

  • how many councillors are needed
  • how many wards there should be and their boundaries
  • what the wards should be called
  • how many councillors should represent each ward

The review outcome resulted in:

  • Preston being represented by 48 councillors (nine fewer than present)
  • 16 wards (six fewer than present)
  • Three councillors representing all wards
  • Boundaries of all wards changing
  • Elections of all councillors for the new wards will take place on 2 May 2019

What is the review about?

A full review of polling districts and polling places has now been completed and the final proposals were approved by Council on 18 October 2018 and will be in place for the local elections on 2 May 2019.
