Are you excited by the challenge of getting your teeth into a £10.7 million capital fundraising campaign for a leading cultural and heritage organisation?
The Harris Museum, Art Gallery and Library in Preston, Lancashire, is looking for an experienced, capable and enthusiastic fundraiser who can support our Capital Fundraising
Manager and wider leadership team in achieving income from trusts/foundations, businesses
and individuals for the Re-imagining the Harris capital project.
The successful candidate will research prospects, work on the public fundraising campaign and with potential donors, make trust and foundation applications, and undertake the critical administration.
They will have several years of fundraising experience, ideally across a spectrum of fundraising disciplines with a focus on cultural/heritage projects and/or capital developments.
This post is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. It is part of the Re-imagining the
Harris project supported by Lancashire County Council, Arts Council England and the Friends
of the Harris.
Every day, almost 1000 people, from all walks of life, visit the Grade I listed Harris in Preston, just as our Victorian founders hoped they would.
After 125 years of daily use, the Harris is tired. Our communities have told us what they want – Preston’s hidden collections on show, new spaces to enjoy, more opportunities to be inspired, and for the Harris to be their place. And here for the others who need it too - forever.
We have a one in 100 year opportunity to make the Harris uniquely special again by creating the UK’s first blended museum, art gallery & library, #HarrisYourPlace.
We are well on the road to success, with over £3.7 million of funding already in place and a
first stage pass with development funding from National Heritage Lottery Fund for £4.7million, backed by an effective partnership between Preston City and Lancashire County Councils.
Now we need a specialist to help deliver our fundraising strategy to make the project happen.
Preston is a growing, vibrant, multi-cultural city that is on the up with exciting developments throughout the city centre and a genuine commitment to culture and heritage as a driver of economic and community development.
It offers easy access to London, Scotland and the major cities of the North West, with the coast and countryside, including the Lake District, on our doorstep.
Interviews will take place during week commencing Monday 15 July 2019.
