An opportunity has arisen to join the waste management team at Preston City Council. We have a vacancy for a flexible, highly motivated, team player with excellent communication skills.
Reporting to the Waste Operation Manager, you will work within a team managing the operational waste services offered by the Council. This will involve dealing with the public and 60 plus staff in a variety of settings, dealing with vehicle and customer service issues as well as developing collection routes and working with new and existing ICT packages. Working as part of a small office based team at the Council's Argyll Road depot, you will be a team player, but also with the ability to work alone. You should be able to prioritise a fluctuating workload and have excellent computer and numeracy skills. You should have experience of working in an operational setting dealing with a varied workload.
If appointed you will be required to have a driving licence and must have a car available for work purposes. A casual user allowance is payable.
The hours of work will be 37 per week, Monday to Friday. Standard hours of work are 6.30am to 2.30pm. However, you must be flexible to suit the work requirements which will include later finishes on a regular basis and occasional evening and weekend work.
