A local conservation group are asking for public support for a crowdfunding campaign aimed at raising funds to improve Conway Park.

The Friends of Conway Park group has launched a crowdfunding campaign - an online platform to bring together public donations - with funding raised going toward improving the visitor experience of the local park.

This new fundraising campaign follows on from the completion of phase one of the parks redevelopment which improved the children's play area with better drainage, a new surface and upgraded play equipment for older children to enjoy.

The next phase of development involves providing better and more accessible equipment for younger children, for which £25,000 is needed.

The group also wishes to raise funds for a new all-weather footpath, running roughly north to south, to link the currently unconnected paths around the playground with the existing woodland path (the Belton Hill to Walker Lane path).

Councillor Robert Boswell, Cabinet member for environment and community safety at Preston City Council, said,

This past year has shown us just how important our parks and green spaces are, not only for our physical health but for our mental well-being too.

The Friends of Conway Park have been very successful in previously raising funding for the play area upgrade, and are now committed to raising the money for the next phase.

We know that things are tough financially for many people right now, but if you are able to help with even a small donation it will help make this great community asset even better. The improvements sought are for the benefit of everyone and your help is greatly appreciated.

Geoff Rand, Chairman of Friends of Conway Park, added,

The past few months have shown us the value of Conway Park in maintaining our physical and mental wellbeing. With your help we can make what is a great local 'green space' even better.

We know that these are tough times for many. However, if you use the park and are able to help with our fundraising campaign, please do donate whatever you can, so that we can get these improvements made.
