Covid-19 - The Council's calendar of meetings for 2020/21

Calendar

The Council's calendar of meetings for 2020/21 was suspended for a period due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

The Council has now been able to make arrangements for its meetings to take place virtually with some having done so already.

The Council is following its previously approved calendar of meetings and whilst the date of the meetings will remain in place, the timings of some of these meetings may change. There could also be ad-hoc meetings which may become necessary and would not appear in the calendar, however the agendas would be published in the usual manner.

When an agenda is published it will continue to set out in the accompanying summons the time that a virtual meeting will commence.

The calendar of meetings has been amended to the end of the Municipal Year in April 2021.  Also now approved at Council on 10 December 2020 is the calendar or meetings for 2021/22.

As we progress nearer to December, or as Government advice changes, the calendar will be reviewed for future months.

If and when the Government advice states that it is safe to return to our usual arrangements of holding meetings at the Town Hall in person, the Council meetings will then revert back to their usual commencement times.

Changes to time of meetings

The changes in the timing of meetings currently relates to the following only:

  • The Cabinet meeting is usually held at 6pm and will temporary start time of 5pm
  • The Planning Committee meeting is usually at 2.30pm and will temporary start time of 10am
  • The Audit Committee meeting is usually at 6pm and will temporary start time of 5pm

There may be occasions when there is a need to alter the timing of meetings on an individual basis due to the resource constraints of in-house webcasting, however, as stated earlier, the date of each meeting will be set out in the relevant summons.

As is usual there may be some meetings which do not need to convene due to lack of business.

Again, this will be conveyed by a cancellation notice which will update the meeting and you will see 'cancelled' next to the date.

Virtual Committee meetings

In order to ensure the continuation of good governance and transparency of decision making at the Council, measures have been put in place in accordance with the Council's Constitution to carry out virtual meetings.

Please view our virtual Committee meetings for more information and links to the meetings. For additional information please view our Committee Meetings page and what happens in Committee meetings page.
