Taxi Driver fined
On 19 May 2017 Gafoor Akthar of Cliff Court, Preston was ordered to pay £280 after being caught smoking whilst driving his private hire vehicle.
Mr Akthar had previously been caught smoking in his taxi and paid a fixed penalty fine.
Ignite Shisha Café fined
On 31 September 2016 Misty Blue Ltd a Company concerned with the management of Ignite Shisha cafe on Watery Lane, Preston were ordered to pay a total of £7,765.
The company pleaded guilty for failing to prevent customers from smoking in a smoke-free place, contrary to The Health Act 2006, and fined £1,600. There was as additional fine of £5,000 for the company pleading guilty for offences under the Serious Crime Act 2007 for providing facilities and equipment for smoking in a smoke-free place. The amounts of £955 costs and £120 victim surcharge were added to the total.
Ignite Shisha Cafe was also fined in £32,000 for Health and Safety matters arising from matters relating to smokefree.
Pasha Shisha Café fined
On 16 May 2014 Preston café Ltd, operators of Pasha on Aqueduct Street, Preston were ordered to pay a total of £3,400. The Company were fined £2880 for two offences failing to prevent customers from smoking in a smoke-free place and encouraging and assisting offences of smoking by providing smoking equipment. The company failed to attend Court and were told to pay £400 costs and £120 victim surcharge.
Sheesha Gardens
On 25 November 2013 Tarik Salem and Alaa Hammand the owners of Sheesha Gardens, 22 Manchester Road, Preston were given conditional discharges after being found guilty of failing to prevent smoking in a smokefree place. They were each ordered to pay costs of £385 and £15 victim surcharge.
