Shape up Workplace is a group based healthy lifestyle programme offering support to those wishing to take steps towards leading a healthier lifestyle. The programme can be shaped to suit your workplace needs and take place at a convenient time, such as lunchtime or after work.

What are the benefits?

Good health in the workplace can:

  • Increase productivity
  • Improve concentration
  • Reduce stress and anxiety
  • Improve morale and working atmosphere
  • Increase energy levels and mental alertness
  • Lower rates of absenteeism
  • Create a positive corporate image (British Heart Foundation)

Programme information

The programme focuses on;

  • the principles of healthy eating
  • the importance of physical activity
  • portion sizes
  • fats and sugars
  • food label reading

The programme has been recognised by the British Heart Foundation as a success story as part of Preston City Council achieving their gold award status for workplace health.

Employees will have the opportunity to have their height, weight, body mass index and waist circumference measurements taken.

A previous participant made the following comment after attending the programme;

“I just wanted to say how informative and useful this course has been – I have studied nutrition in the past but I still learned plenty! The team have been extremely helpful and it wasn’t one of those ‘weight watchers’ type courses where you are made to feel bad for not losing weight – it’s more about making positive changes to your lifestyle gradually. I would definitely recommend it to anyone”.
