Streetwise Sports Club is a themed multi sports and activity club for young people aged 8 - 14 years. It runs every Thursday (excluding school holidays) from 4.00pm to 6.00pm at West View Climbing and Leisure Centre and costs £1.50.
Each week, a variety of sports will be offered based around a theme of the week. Our regular activities that will run weekly are:
All the areas are staffed by fully qualified coaches and there are opportunities to progress into clubs within the centre.
If you would like your child to come along to Streetwise Sports Club you will need to ensure that a parental consent form is completed and given in at reception when making payment for the club.
You can do this by either downloading a consent form from the documents section of this page or by coming along to the club with your child on the first session.
Streetwise Sports Club runs in 6 or 7 week terms with each term themed around a chosen country with additional sports and activities running for a number of weeks throughout that term. To see which additional activities are running for each term, you can keep an eye on the table below or the notice board in the foyer at West View Climbing and Leisure Centre.
We expect children to behave as they would do at school and treat the coaches and other participants with respect and encourage fair play and sportsmanship throughout the activities.
Bad language and any other unruly behaviour will not be tolerated and should any child miss behave, they will be issued with a yellow card and two yellow cards will result in a 3 week ban from Streetwise Sports Club.
Can I drop off my child and collect them when the club finishes?
Yes, providing you have completed an parental consent form and children are collected on time.
My child is almost 8 years old, can they still take part?
Unfortunately they would have to wait until they are 8 years old to register fro the club.
What does my child need to wear?
There is no dress code, but sports clothing and trainers is preferred.
Does my child need any equipment?
All equipment will be provided for all activities.
My child has a medical issue, who should I tell?
The medical issue should be indicated on the parental consent when registering. It would also be advisable to mention the medical issue to any of the sports coaches.
Is there somewhere safe for my child to put his/her things?
Lockers are available for either 20p or £1 in the wet change and dry change areas.
My child has lost their swipe card
A replacement card will be issued at a cost of £1.
My child has been issued with a red card, what does this mean?
If you child is issued with a red card, this means that they will not be able to attend the club for a further 3 weeks because their behaviour has been unacceptable.
