Landscape Design

The Landscape Design Team is part of the multi disciplinary Planning Design Division located within the Development Directorate.

The Team delivers a high quality integrated landscape design service in line with the Council’s priorities and in accordance with all relevant legislation and best practice guidance in order to promote, protect and enhance the quality of the environment of the City of Preston.
The wide range of services provided by the Landscape Design Team include the following:

• Contribution to the development and delivery of urban regeneration projects and programmes in accordance with the 3rd City Vision Provision of landscape, urban design and conservation advice to other Council departments
• Assisting with the development of policies, strategies and programmes of work relating to landscape regeneration and restoration, including liaison with external environmental organisations and community groups in respect of all aspects of the City’s landscape.
• Support to the Development Control Team, to negotiate high quality landscape design in new development
• Advice to other Council departments who are concerned with the development, regeneration and maintenance of the public realm landscape in Preston
• Design and contract management of City Landscape regeneration schemes, Heritage Restoration, & Land Reclamation projects. Including procurement, tendering, contract supervision, administration and budget control
• Commissioning and contract management of Public Art Schemes.
• The delivery of The Construction Design and Management Regulations Designer and Coordinator roles
• Production and management of the Standing List of Landscape Contractors
