We are committed to supporting people and communities experiencing significant social and economic deprivation. We have a variety of roles in tackling financial exclusion and promoting initiatives that not only provide direct support to people, but build capacity within Voluntary, Community and Faith Sectors (VCFS) and develop financial resilience within communities.
Since October 2014 we have hosted a 'Developing Financial Resilience' conference and we have facilitated financial capability training for VCFS groups and community volunteers through Money for Life Programme.
We set up a Financial Inclusion Practitioners Group with partners from local authority advice services, social housing sector, homeless services, faith organisation and the voluntary sector. Together this group has undertaken research into financial inclusion, mapped financial advice and support services in Preston and has established a Financial Inclusion Action Plan.
Guild Money Credit Union was launched to the VCFS in June 2015. This is collaboration between Preston City Council and Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Credit Union who are expanding their services to everyone who lives and works in Preston.
See our Benefits and Advice Services page for up-to-date information on welfare reform and how to get help.
