We appreciate the valued contribution that many landlords make in the community. A minority of landlord's fail to manage their properties to an acceptable standard. We are therefore making full use of new powers under the Housing Act 2004 which enables the licensing of certain landlords in order to improve conditions for tenants and the local community.
A direction came into force on 28 January 2013 which will enable us to control the number of properties which become Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) by requiring the submission of a planning application. For more information see the Introduction of direction referring to Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOS) page.
