We are committed to protecting the health and wellbeing of consumers in Preston. Our work is to educate and enforce in the food production, catering and retail industry.

We are responsible for enforcing a range of food hygiene legislation in all food premises in Preston. We also work with other agencies and organisations to contribute towards health for all.

Preston FoodSafe

Preston FoodSafe is a scheme where consumers can can find the most recent environmental health inspection results of restaurants, take-aways, schools and butchers, in Preston.

All restaurants and take-aways are regularly inspected by us to ensure that the food they serve is safe to eat.

Restaurants and take-aways are checked for hygiene, structural condition and overall attitude to complying with the law and they are then given a star rating based on their results.

Five stars are given to establishments that demonstrate the best compliance with food safety and one or no stars to those establishments that demonstrate least compliance.
