Preston cemetery is divided into two parts by Miller Road. These areas are referred to as the old cemetery and the new cemetery.
Staff are available to offer information and advice regarding funerals, cremations, burial options (including woodland burials) and to discuss memorialisation options.
Preston crematorium has been equipped with computer operated cremators that are able to comply with the strict limits on pollutants laid down by the 1990 Environmental Protection Act.
If you are using a Sat-Nav to get to the Crematorium please use the post code PR2 5BP.
If you're on a low income and need help to pay for a funeral you're arranging, you may be able to get a Funeral Payment from the Social Fund. For more information on the fund visit Gov.uk - Funeral Payment website.
All users of the Cemetery and Crematorium are welcome to walk their dogs through the grounds. Whether to accompany a grieving owner to remember a loved one, or simply to enjoy the picturesque scenery.
However, there are some rules that must be observed whilst walking your dog through our Grounds:
1. If your dog fouls you must clean it up immediately;
2. Your pet dog must remain on the lead at all times. Nowhere in the grounds can your dog be let off their lead;
3. Your dog must remain on the footpaths and highways at all times, Dogs cannot go onto the grassed areas. Please see the maps and Dog Control Order Leaflet in our documents section for more information.
Every year we host a walk around the Crematorium and the Cemetery. However, you can have a self guided tour around the Cemetery using the Cemetery wildlife and heritage walk document under the documents section of this page.
