A wide range of events are held within our parks. These cater for many different interests from fun days and walks, to hands-on nature events and they take place across the whole year. Most events are suitable for families; however, please remember children must be accompanied by an adult and that craft events often involve paints and glue so can get messy.
Some events have a limited number of places and so must be booked in advance.
Large groups, clubs and schools may wish to enquire about specially tailored events.
On practical conservation activities and walks, it is recommended that suitable outdoor clothing and stout footwear are worn.
The Ranger Service runs a series of regular health walks designed to provide a gentle form of exercise. The walks are led by the Park Rangers and trained volunteer walk leaders and explore the parks along surfaced paths. The difficulty varies between parks, for example Avenham and Miller Parks are quite hilly. All of the walks last around 40 minutes. We currently have regular health walks:
The Rangers lead a number of guided/heritage walks/rambles during the year and these vary in duration. Details of these walks can be found in the Parks events leaflet..

Organised in conjunction with the Park Rangers and local schools, children learn about the nature and wildlife in their local parks.
There are various conservation work parties arranged with the local community and sometimes with the local friends groups, to carry out a wide variety of practical tasks in the parks and local nature reserves in Preston. If you would like to improve your local environment and help wildlife please contact the Ranger team on 01772 906471. Please wear suitable clothing and stout footwear if attending these events.
These days are arranged to bring whole families and communities together using the parks and help promote the facilities available in their local park. Some of the annual family fun days are organised in conjunction with the friends groups.
Incorporating both family and education, these days are organised to promote the nature and wildlife in the local parks and help to promote the importance of maintaining the local environment and wildlife for the future.
These events can include bat / moth nights, bird watching, bug hunts, nature trails etc.
