The person liable for the payment of the Council Tax is the person who appears first on
the following list:
A resident is a person who is aged 18 years or over and has his or her main residence in the dwelling. Persons who are joint owners or tenants, or couples who are married or living together, can be held jointly liable for payment.

The Council Tax assumes that there are two adult residents in the property. Consequently, if there are fewer than two adult residents in the property there may be an entitlement to a discount.

A reduction may be granted if the property is the residence of a disabled person whose special needs are provided for in that property by one or more of the following facilities:
If you believe that you may be entitled to this reduction, please complete part 3 of the enquiry form. The property will be inspected by a council officer and if your application is successful the Council Tax will be charged at the rate for the next lower valuation band, except if the property is already in Band A, for which a reduction of 1/9th band D is given.

Certain properties may be exempt from Council Tax, the categories are listed below. If you feel your property could be exempt, please note the letter which applies to the relevant category and enter this onto part 4 of the enquiry form.
