Council tax bands

There are eight bands in total labelled A through to H. Each property liable for council tax in Preston has been allocated a band. The tax band is assigned based on the estimated value of the property at 1 April 1991.

Use our search facility to find your council tax band. Details are also available from the council tax pages of the Directgov website.

The council does not decide what band your home should be in. This is done by the Valuation Office Agency who are part of the Inland Revenue.

Any improvements or alterations made to the property may affect its value or band category but will not be taken into consideration until the property is sold.

Remember, these are valuations as at 1 April 1991, they do not relate to the value of your home today.
