The Council’s budget proposals for 2016/17 – 2019/20 were released for consultation on 24 December 2015 in the document Cabinet Budget Proposals 2016/17 – 2019/20.
The budget consultation document was sent out to key stakeholders in Preston including businesses, the local community, Parish Councils, to neighbouring councils in
Lancashire and to local MPs. The consultation document was also posted on www.preston.gov.uk with the opportunity to respond via the website.
Preston Citizens’ Panel was also consulted. The Panel members were asked if they agreed with charging for green waste collection and what level of charge they would
consider reasonable. They were also consulted on how acceptable they would find a number of possible options for services changes.
In total, 40 responses were received; 33 from individuals, 1 from a housing association and 6 from organisations presenting the views of a number of people.
From the Citizens’ Panel, 235 responses were received.
The majority of responses related to the introduction of the charge for the collection of green waste and were against the proposal. There was some support for the introduction
of the charge.
