Doorstep traders may be convenient, but do you know what you're really getting?
The Council would advise residents to take note of advice from Lancashire Constabulary in relation to doorstep callers and to advise friends, neighbours and relatives to remain vigilant.
As well as calling at your door and offering to carry out work on your home, rogue traders may try to sell poor quality goods for highly inflated prices.
It can be difficult to refuse some sales people on your doorstep and you can be pressured into buying something you do not want or that is not good value for money.
Neighbourhood Watch schemes are proven to reduce burglary and deter bogus callers. Join your local watch scheme by contacting your local Watch Liaison Officer.
If you think you have been a victim of fraud, report this to Action Fraud, a national agency who record and investigate reports of all types of fraud.
For general advice you can call Citizens Advice on 08454 04 05 06.
You can also contact Lancashire Police using the non emergency number 101. If you feel threatened by a sales person in your own home call 999.
