Accessibility options

We have provided some features on this site to help you to get around it as easily as possible.

Display preferences

At the top right of every screen you will find the display preference options. These allow you to choose how you want the background colour and text size of the website pages to appear. You can choose between the default style (light background and normal size text), a relaxed style (light background with larger text), a dark style (dark background with normal text) and dark relaxed style (dark background with larger text).

Once you have selected your favourite view this will be remembered the next time you access the website (using a cookie).

ReadSpeaker

Speech-enabling by ReadSpeaker allows the text on the website to be read out loud to you. For more information see our ReadSpeaker page.

You can use the following short cut keys to help you navigate around the site.

Using access keys

To use these access keys follow the instructions below.

Internet Explorer 5+ (PC)
Hold down the ALT key, press the number or letter of the access key, release both keys then press ENTER.

Internet Explorer 4 (PC)
Hold down the ALT key and press the number or letter of the access key.

Internet Explorer 5+ (Mac)
Hold down the CTRL key and press the number or letter of the access key.

Internet Explorer 4.5 (Mac)
Access keys are not supported.

Netscape 6 and earlier (PC and Mac)
Not supported.

Netscape 7 (PC)
Hold down the ALT key and press the number or letter of the access key.

Mozilla (PC)
Hold down the ALT key and press the number or letter of the access key.

Mozilla (Mac)
Hold down the CTRL key and press the number or letter of the access key.

Safari and Omniweb (Mac)
Hold down the CTRL key and press the number or letter of the access key.
