The Council owns a wide range of shops, industrial units, offices and sites from which it derives rent. The Council employs a team of Chartered Surveyors and support staff, to ensure that these properties are managed efficiently and properly and to maximise the rental income to the Council. The typical sort of work involves rent reviews, new lettings, lease renewals and reporting any repairs which are needed.

The section is also involved in the management and supervision of the City's travellers caravan site in Leighton Street. The site is owned by the County Council, and all management is done on their behalf. Property services has responsibility for all acquisitions and disposals on behalf of the council.
