The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) Youth climbing series is holding its second round of the North West heats at West View leisure centre this weekend.
The event is part of a series of fun climbing competitions specifically for young people, with the emphasis on enjoyment. Made up of three age categories, the competition is open to all, from experienced climbers to beginners, with separate competitions for boys and girls.
West View’s competition is one of three regional rounds in the area. The top 3 climbers in each category from each of the BMC Areas will then take part in the British Final later this year.
Councillor Christine Thomas, cabinet member for community services, said:
“West View leisure centre is now home to some top class climbing facilities, and it is fantastic to see them being used for events like this. I would like to wish all our climbers the very best of luck for this weekend’s competition”.
