The Mayor of Preston will accept an award from the Campaign for Courtesy on behalf of the city of Preston for its zero tolerance policy on swearing.
The Respect our City campaign which ran over the Christmas period was designed at tackling anti-social behaviour in the city. The Safer Preston Partnership between the Police, Preston City Council and other partners was a big success.
Problem areas were targeted with posters and signs on buses, shops, lampposts and restaurants with the ‘Rules Round Town’ message.
Councillor Keith Sedgewick, Mayor of Preston, said; “We are delighted to receive this award in recognition of the work we and our partners have done to reduce the problem of anti-social behaviour in Preston. By working together with our partners we have managed to make an impact in residential areas where they have been badly affected in the past.”
