Aquatic festival makes a splash in Preston

Preston City Council is hosting its first ever Aquasplash Festival on Monday 6th July at West View Leisure Centre.
Aquasplash is an aquatic festival aimed at 5-11 year olds that promises to provide an extremely fun-filled afternoon for both swimmers and non-swimmers, with participants competing against each other across 5 activities, including speed, agility and strength.
Four schools have been invited to take part in this exciting afternoon: Brookfield Community Primary School, Brockholes Wood Community Primary School, Preston St Matthew’s Church of England Primary School and Preston St Stephen’s Church of England Primary School. The winning school will receive a trophy for their school cabinet, as well as t-shirts and goodie bags.
Councillor Christine Thomas, cabinet member for community services, said;
“The festival is a fantastic way to celebrate the continuing success of school swimming in the City, recognising the skills achieved in lessons. Young people will be able demonstrate their abilities as both individuals and teams, in what will be a co-ordinated yet fun environment.
With the support of the Amateur Swimming Association, and the inclusion of Preston Swimming Club, we hope the event will promote the benefits of being in the water and encourage other aquatic activities in the community.”
