The Riversway estate provides opportunities to stroll around its wide promenade and see boats of all shapes and sizes or to walk its country style paths along the riverbank and see a variety of wildlife (see Riversway Trail Guide). Both the walkway and riverside paths are suitable for wheelchair access. The provision of pub and restaurant facilities around the Dock along with seating along the water's edge help to provide a pleasant area from which non-water users may view those undertaking the various water based activities.
Sailing craft visiting the marina (see Preston Marina Users Guide and http://www.prestonmarina.co.uk) come from numerous ports in the North West along with the occasional international visitor. Canal craft are frequent visitors whilst transiting the Ribble Link, a newly constructed section of canal which links the Leeds Liverpool canal with the River Douglas and Ribble and Savick Brook to the Lancaster canal (see http://www.britishwaterways.co.uk and http://www.ribblelink.co.uk)
Steam trains may be seen at weekends running on the Dockland Railway from the Heritage Museum (see http://www.ribblesteam.org.uk).
