Nestled near the heart of the city, Avenham and Miller Parks are the green lungs that have nourished Prestonians for generations. From the formal layout of Miller Park with its ornate fountain to the sweeping landscape and iconic new Pavilion of Avenham Park housing the Riverside Cafe, there is something for everyone in Preston's premier parks.

The Riverside Cafe, located in the Avenham Park Pavilion is now in its second year of trading and continues to attract a growing number of customers, despite the credit crunch. The cafe is open for business throughout the summer months between 10am and 5pm, 7 days a week.  It offers delicious food and drink and a friendly and relaxing atmosphere in the centre of the stunning, award winning parks. The menu is freshly prepared using local suppliers and, where possible, Fair Trade and rainforest alliance ingredients. (Please note, last orders are 4.30pm for food and 4.45pm for drinks.) Winter opening hours are between 10am - 4pm  and these times are effective after the clocks go back at  the end of October until the clocks go forward at the end of March . 

The cafe and Pavilion were introduced to the parks during phase one of the Heritage Lottery Funded heritage restoration of the parks. The Pavilion is the hub for the 2009 events programme and is one of the many reasons the parks won the Green Flag Award for the first time in 2008 and again in 2009.  The Green Flag Award is given to a park in recognition of the high standards of maintenance, community involvement and its overall management.

A half day consists of 4 hours. A full day is up to 8 hours.

Any event finishing later than 9:00pm will have a minimum hire charge of £160.
