carnival

A wide range of events are held within our Parks and Open Spaces. These cater for many different interests from fun days, walks to hands-on nature events and take place across the whole year. Most events are suitable for families; however, please remember children must be accompanied by an adult and that craft events often involve paints and glue so can get messy.

Some events have a limited number of places and so must be booked in advance.

Large groups, clubs and schools may wish to enquire about specially tailored events.

On practical conservation activities and walks, it is recommended that suitable outdoor clothing and stout footwear are worn.

Health walks

park walk

The Ranger Service runs a series of regular health walks designed to provide a gentle form of exercise.  The walks are led by the Park Rangers and trained volunteer walk leaders and explore the parks along surfaced paths.  The difficulty varies between parks, for example Avenham and Miller Parks are quite hilly.  All of the walks last around 40 minutes and are a great way to meet new people and are an ideal way to improve your health for free!
We currently have regular health walks as follows:

  • Every Wednesday at Moor Park (start 11.00 am). Meet at Ranger office next to bowling greens.
  • Every Friday at Avenham and Miller Parks (start 1pm). Meet at new Pavilion.
  • The last Thursday of the month at Haslam Park (start 10.30 am).  Meet at Ranger office next to bowling greens.
