The Guild is a people's celebration. It is a chance for everyone in Preston to take extra pride in the city and celebrate Preston's achievements over the past twenty years as well as look forward ambitiously to the future.

The whole Guild celebrations will be therefore structured around the community. In 2008, the Council will be launching a full consultation exercise across Preston to find out how the people of Preston want to celebrate their Guild.

In the past people have thrown street parties, organised various games and events and held processions through the city's streets. During the year we'll be talking to as many people as possible about what people would expect to see in 2012 and how the Council can help these celebrations.

Local people, community groups and organisations, businesses, schools and colleges will all be able to have an input into the 2012 celebrations to ensure that Preston's Guild is very much a people's Guild and a wonderful celebration that people will remember for a long time to come. Certainly the next twenty years!
