British Gas Commitment to Energy Efficiency

British Gas is currently investing in a multi-million pound programme to support schemes  throughout England, Scotland and Wales. Since early 2003, Preston City Council has been working in partnership with British Gas to extend the existing energy efficiency programme in Preston. The additional funding provided has enabled the Council to maximise the assistance that is directed to improving the energy efficiency of the homes of elderly and vulnerable households in the city.

The Process

A survey of your house will be carried out by an approved contractor to check that an Energy Grant is appropriate and they will submit the application to the Council. Once the application has been approved the contractor will contact you to arrange a convenient date for the work to be carried out.

Upon completion of the works you will be asked to sign a form to confirm you are satisfied with the job and to request the contractor to be paid. Any guarantees, together with the invoice confirming payment has been made, are then returned to you for safekeeping.
