All restaurants and take aways are regularly inspected by council environmental health officers to ensure that the food they serve is safe to eat.

Restaurants and take aways are checked for hygiene, structural condition and overall attitude to complying with the law and they are then given a star rating.

Five stars are given to establishments that demonstrate the best compliance with food safety and one or no stars to those establishments that demonstrate least compliance.
