The Dog Control Team will be in Kidsgrove, Ingol & Tanterton near the Community Centre offering free dog micro-chipping to all residents of Preston.
From April 2016 it is law that all dogs must be microchipped and the details on the microchip database must be kept up to date.
Microchipping a dog is the most effective way of making sure that a lost or stolen dog is reunited with their rightful owners.
Each microchip is coded with a unique number that is linked to a computer database containing owner's details. Once an animal is microchipped a Stray Dog Officer, a Vet or RSPCA Inspector can scan lost or stolen dogs to trace their owners.
All dogs must be 12 weeks old or over and accompanied by an adult (over 18).
We can also scan your dog and check to see if it is microchipped. If it is already microchipped we will give you your microchip number so you can contact the microchip database and update your details.
