Smokefree Preston

Since 1st of July 2007 virtually all enclosed public places and workplaces in England have become smoke free.

The aim of the law is to protect both workers and the general public from the harmful effects of second hand smoke.

The Council continues to work in partnership with the local NHS to help people at work give up smoking. Specialist smoking cessation advisor's can go into work places and advise and encourage those who wish to quit, to give up.  Individuals can also contact the Stop Smoking Service themselves.

Phone the free NHS helpline on 0800 328 6297 for more information.

Alternatively, if you would prefer to speak to an advisor face-to-face, why not drop in to the Minerva Health centre at Preston North End?  Free advice sessions are held by the Stop Smoking Service every Monday evening (except on match nights) at 17.30 and 18.45.  No appointment is necessary.
