The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and Gambling Commission
have published a number of fact sheets to provide guidance and support around gambling and gaming.
The fact sheets give guidance about the following areas:
Following a number of recent cases where licensees and clubs have allowed their premises to be used for high stakes poker under the guise of private gaming, it reminds you that private gaming can only take place in an area which is not accessible by members of the public.
The guidance also warns that attempts to use 'dubious, temporary or impromptu private membership' as a front for private gaming is breaching the law. Pubs and clubs could lose their right to have poker and they also risk prosecution. There is also a risk of review of their alcohol Premises Licence under the crime and disorder objective.
