The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH) provide a framework to help protect people in the workplace against health risks from hazardous substances. The substances may be used directly in the work place (e.g. cleaning chemicals, chemical reagents) or may arise from the work activities (e.g. dusts, fumes and waste products).
COSHH applies to virtually all substances which are hazardous to health. The exceptions include asbestos and lead (which have their own regulations).
In order to comply with the Regulations you must undertake a COSHH risk assessment.
