Group egg rolling

The annual Egg Rolling festival is taking place this weekend, and I for one am looking forward to a fun-filled family day out this Easter Monday!

The event dates back over 200 years to the Victorian era, yet the family tradition of rolling your egg down the hill before you eat it continues to capture the imagination of Prestonians of all ages.

There is whole host of activities lined-up, with performances from Preston Concert Band and Lazy River Jazz, as well as Bollywood, Indian stick and Capoeira dancers. Workshops and stalls will offer henna, face painting and egg decorating, whilst street theatre performers will also keep the crowds entertained.

Mass egg rolls will be taking place from the top of Avenham Park hill throughout the day, and I will also be judging the traditional Easter bonnet parade.

Hopefully the weather will bring some sunshine, and I will see all of you in Avenham Park on Monday.

Happy Easter everyone!
